Day 37 - Gevurah Sh’b Yesod: Strength within Connection

Trust the unfolding and act well.

Dwell in the land, and be nourished by faith

(Psalm 37:3)

The strength of the spiritual warrior

who can discern her path and give honor to all

Today we honor:

The courage that is shaped by practice

The guidance that is revealed through faith

The clarity that comes from surrender

The insight that rises with action.

Practice for today:

Take 5-10 minutes to sit. Anchor attention on the breath and feel it fill your body. After a few moments, say to your heart, I trust the unfolding and I will meet it well. Continue to say this phrase, calling your attention back as it wanders, noticing how this affirmation feels in your body and noticing the emotions it stirs.

End your sit with three deep calming breaths.

Commit yourself to the unfolding path,

And guidance will come.

(Psalm 37:5)

Rabbi Yael Levy

The Omer teachings you see here and can receive as nightly email reminders by signing up for our mailing list, are taken from Rabbi Yael Levy's Omer guide, Journey through the Wilderness, which is available as a whole in print or as an ebook.

A Way In is offering the opportunity to count together one night a week on Zoom, guided live on video by Rabbi Yael Levy. Every Monday evening at 8:30PM EST Rabbi Yael offers a teaching about the week and the day of the Omer, and we stand together and count the new day. Counting together strengthens and helps inspire our experience and practice. Go to instructions for connecting with Zoom.

Please note, Rabbi Yael is currently traveling and will be back to lead the Omer Zoom call for the week of Yesod which will be on Thursday May 30th  (there will be no call on Monday, May 27th).

The practice as well as Rabbi Yael were featured in a 2015 New York Times article.
