Shabbat Intentions: Be discerning about who and what you serve

We stood at the mountain

Witnessing the thunder and lightening,

The loud blast of the shofar,

The flames and the smoke

And we grew afraid.

What will be asked of us?

Who will we need to become?

From a distance

We heard clearly and simply:

Be discerning about who and what you serve. (Exodus 20:20)

Become people who give themselves to what they most love and value.

Make an altar of the earth. (Exodus 20:21)

Be aware of the sacred beneath your feet and before your eyes.

Live in reverent relationship.

And everywhere you call my name

I will come to you and bless you. (Exodus 20:21)

As we journey from the mountain, let us walk with vision, clarity and strength.

And let us tend the fires of devotion with love and care

For the wellbeing of all.

Shabbat Shalom. Blessings to all.
