Bless Our Pursuit of Justice

Dear Friends
As many of you know I continually turn to the Psalms for support and guidance.
In the wake of the administration’s response to the protests in Los Angeles and their continued cruelty, brutality and disregard of law I offer my translation of Psalm 5. May we be strengthened by each other’s love and courage.

To the Composer of Eternity
To the Beloved
A Song from the Waters

Please hear my cries,
Infinite One,
Understand the aching of my heart.

Listen to my voice,
My cries for help,
My source, my hope,
It is to you I pray.

As the day begins, hear me please.
I pour out my prayers and
Wait with the dawn.

For you are not a force that stands with tyrants.
Cruelty, brutality
Do not abide with you.

The arrogant cannot stand firm before your gaze,
You spurn those who use power to destroy.

You cast out deceivers,
And all those filled with bloodthirsty greed.

As for me,
In your abundant love
I will enter your house,
I will lay myself down in your holy presence
In awe.

Infinite One,
Please lead me on a righteous path,
There is so much confusion and fear,
Make clear my way.

Many are those who are speaking only lies,
Their innermost thoughts are filled with treachery,
Their throats are an open grave,
Their lips deceive.

Hold them to account.
Let them fall, destroyed by their own counsel.
Casts them out for their many crimes,
For their defilement of life itself.

Let all who seek refuge in you find joy.
Let them sing into the mystery.
Shelter and protect them.
May all those who insist on love prevail.

Bless our pursuit of justice,
Enfold us in your highest will,
Let your presence be our shield.
