Seeking Solace and Guidance

Dear Friends,

Sending love, blessings and so much gratitude.

Like all of us I am struggling mightily these days.
I seek solace in prayer, refuge in relationship
And search our tradition for wisdom and guidance.
Sometimes this helps.

This week we read about Ya’acov’s dream and
Encounter with Divine Mystery.

Break through, the Mystery calls,
Break through what you think you know,
Break through old forms and long held expectations,
Break through the insistence on being sure, on being right.

Break through to a place of not knowing.
Open to a courageous imagination,
To an awareness that there are possibilities
Not yet discovered.

Mah nora hamakom hazeh,
Gen 28:17
How terrifying is this place
How awesome and filled with possibility.

The Torah tells us we are not alone.
Angels are among us
And the Divine Mystery is right here,
By our side.

Let us pause as we enter this Thanksgiving day
And breathe together with all life.

May we experience moments that stir joy,
Inspire gratitude and reveal love.

Let us be gentle and kind to each other
And let us help each other sit b’makom hazeh,
Wherever we find ourselves
And just for an instant, hear the Mystery call:
Take notice I am with you and will be with you wherever you go.
Gen 28:15
Much love and blessings to all,
Rabbi Yael
