Down from the Mountain

After the transcendent experience at Mt Sinai

the people were tasked with living into what was revealed:

All is One.

Nothing is separate.

Every aspect of creation
is part of an interconnected web.

And every word and action

has consequences for generations to come.

How to embody these truths?

The Divine brings

mishpatim -- laws, rules, practices

that will help the people create a society rooted in justice.

A society in which

those in need are cared for,

money is not used to wield power,

deceit is never tolerated,

and all are given the freedom to stop and rest.

A society in which

all are welcomed

and fairness is always the goal.

The people heard this call

and responded with one voice.

na’aseh v’nishmah.

Na’aseh: We will do.

We will act for justice.

This is our sacred covenant with the One.

V’nishmah: And we will listen.

We will pay attention.

We will stay awake.

We will be vigilant guardians of justice.

this is our sacred inheritance.

Let us be strengthened by this ancient call.
