Standing at the foot of a mountain filled with flame,
We listened to the One reverberate in our hearts.
And the people did journey.
They journeyed across the sea.
But first they journeyed into themselves.
We step into the dark to arrive to a new day.
May we take each other’s hands
And let the bonds of relationship and commitment
Guide our way.
May it be a year of mending and healing, a year of strength and courage, a year of devotion and love. Let us rise together for the well-being of each other, our country and the planet.

I acknowledge . . . my struggles and the struggles of those around me.
Rebecca is in pain. She is frightened,
And she calls out to God:
“If this is so, if this pain is inside of me,
If life is such a struggle,
Why do I exist?”
